Far Thinking : Drop-dead Sign

Hello, this is a new project called "Far Thinking" meaning that I would share a related stories of what I've been experienced throughout this time. Emphasizing my thinking that occurred on that time and expressed using arts, for this I choose to do a comic strip. Finally could be posted by now, had been drafted the sketch from March 2024. It colored on 12 Apr 2024 using watercolor. Do please enjoy reading this short comic strip. 

Ramadhan month is already gone, happy Eid Al Fitr 1445 H for those who celebrate. I hope we could still spread kindness, and keep the spirit inside ourself, ameen.. Also, been lacking focuses since my beloved cat that I taking care of during the last 2 years had an accident. She got hit by a motorbike (most probably). So, during this lebaran holiday I am doing an extra care of her... I hope I could help her as much as I can.

Far Thinking: Drop-dead Sign (#1)

PDKT 2024 an Event by J-Rockstar Club Indonesia

Hi, it's only been two days after the event. Here some a brief story when I attended PDKT 2024 of J-Rockstar Indonesia. As you may know, J-Rocks is a band from Indonesia, their name bigger because of a Band Hunt (Nescafe Get  Started) a decade ago. They started as a band since 09 November 2003. A lot of people saying they sounds alike with Laruku (everyone's knew them). But it is not about music comparison, even I didn't follows Laruku - L'Arc~en~Ciel so much. So guys, just want to share, my experience here. 

J-Rocks are consists of Iman T. Rachman (Vocalist and Guitarist), Swara Wimayoga (Bassist), Sony Ismail (Guitarist), and Anton Kelces (Drummer). I've been known these guys since my junior high school's time, and some years later had a little bit out of tracks of knowing them. Until on 23rd March 2024 I looked to them again by watching them live for the first time in AEON Deltamas. Truly mesmerized, I'm sorry if I seems like a bit crazy but they gave me unknown energy within myself. I hope its a positive energy, though. Back to the story line, I went to their fan's event in Kebayoran Lama. Knowing that J-Rockstar Indo has invited the band and offers an iftar menu as well. It was on 29 March 2024. Met a lot of J-Rockstar, it was my first time as well to be attended such a powerful solid environment. Everyone knows each other. 

Long story short, they pulled a lil' gig there in a coffeeshop, had a ceremonial for Basecamp Launching as well. Wima and Sony played a song or two together with J-Rockstar Indo. Had to see my first auction event too, I was not knowing how auction should goes, it was very fun! They also mentioned that J-Rockstar will active again in recruiting members. PDKT itself stands for 'Pendekatan Diri Kepada Tuhan' if I'm not mistaken, translated to "personal approach to God." The event originally an annual event that conducted every Ramadhan Month (Fasting Month for Muslim). They said it has been absence for so long, and this year with only 3 weeks preparation, they started to revive its back from the dormant time. Congratulations all the J-Rockstar members for the successful event, thank you for working so hard on it. Also want to thank to J-Rocks for making music, and shows me that hopes and dreams are still can be depend on. 

Because of I've been crazy over the J-Rocks music, here my playlist on spotify: J-Rocks Playlist I may edited and put more songs on it, but for now let's peacefully listened to their songs.. I also put some songs based on anime I watched/known on it, just to gives some Japanese vibes. Guys, also don't forget to streams Imanine's Music (Iman's solo music), he has a very cool song called 'The Way of Life' an instrumental song from the latest album (The Holy Spirit Streams). I don't know until when I will look up for them, but I really want to share of my thoughts on here. 

Upcoming schedule for J-Rocks that I know is they will be performing in The Sounds Project No. 07 in Jakarta on 11 August 2024 (Day 3). Go look up for the tickets on this link. Wima revealed yesterday that Sony had workshop for songs, and talked a bit about the next album which will be coming this June 2024. They already released one single "Tanpa Air Mata" on 23 December 2023. Let's waiting for the their big news.

Gigs Story - Twin Peaks

Hi! I'm here to compile a lil bit of my experience on seeing Twin Peaks live in 2019. First, want to give you a brief introduction of who are Twin Peaks! Twin Peaks (TP) is a band from Chicago, Illinois. They consist of Cadien Lake James (guitarist), Clay Frankel (guitarist), Jack Dolan (Bassist), Collin Croom (guitarist/keyboardist), and Connor Bordner (drummer). All of them are vocalist in some songs (depends on who engulf the most on the song), only Connor who isn't singing. They already released five studio albums (Sunken (2013); Wild Onion (2014); Down in Heaven (2016), Sweet'17 Singles (2018); Lookout Low (2019)); 1 live album (Urbs in Horto (2017)); and 1 EP (Side A (2020)). 

I knew TP from Skegss (as they toured in AUS together back then). But I need to update you that TP now (I guess) still on break. As they never posted anything except their merch on instagram. Also, Clay is began his solo career under the name of Hazel City (his new album 'Old Friend' was out in 2023), and more seeing him in his other project (Grapetooth) as they released another single in 2022 (Shining and Infinite Source). Cadien focuses on having a show in radio, and his probably continuing his study (assumption), Collin toured with Whitney and other Chi musicians. Jack and Connor, I dunno. 

I went to Berlin once before I went again for second time to watch TP live. My first visit, I was having no internet connection! Pretty chaos back then, I was having no idea on how I could reached my sister there (she went for job matters). I went to Berlin from Poznan (around three hours time) by bus. I reached ZOB like at 6 am. I looked for sim-card in the near gas station just right beside the ZOB (bus terminal in Berlin). I asked for help but no people is around, the only person I met was the clerk on the shop there. Also he was not interested to help. Long story short, I could meet with my sister around 11 am, after braving myself to went using taxi. I remember I used the computer in ZOB, I paid 5 euro for 10 minutes using internet (it was very very slow computer, pentium 4). For that, I could at least typed an email to my sister, explaining my condition and I told her I would be there at 10 am by taxi. So, I was having a stressful experience then when I planned to see TP in Berlin, I was very prepared! 

Summer 2019 I was started to work in a factory. The show was in Fall, exactly 08 Oct 2019 (I will always remember). The payment from the summer job handed in September, I used a huge amount of it to travel to Berlin for the show. It was Tuesday, I was having a class throughout the week cannot call in sick or whatever it was. I was still attending a class, then 3 pm I went to the station to catch a train to Berlin at 4 pm. At the train, I prayed and prayed once I arrived to be able to use internet. At the border line of Poland and Germany (Frankfurt (Oder)), my signal was slightly disappear. Then I screen capture every the g-map the route from East Berlin Station to the Musik und Frieden (the venue). All the transport recommendation thorough. And yes, goodbye to internet. I had lost my internet once I arrived there. 

Thank to me, I already captured all the information before, I paid for one day ticket for transport. Went to HBF and used S-Bahn to go to the venue, walked and crossed the Spree river (Oberbaum Bridge).  A little lost and asked local people on where does the venue located. I arrived in the venue around 6 pm, the gate opened at 7 pm. Waiting outside the venue, meeting with Clay outside! Took a picture with Clay. Then went to the venue, bought merch (tote bag). Watching DEHD live as opener. Then TP :') until 10:30 pm. I asked for photograph with TP members. The pic is below! Having conversations with Cade, and gave them chocolates. I went to ZOB using taxi. It costed me more but I need to catch my bus on time since Wednesday I still need to go for class.

At 12 am, I finally waiting for the bus back to Poznan. I was in Poznan at 6 am, and came back to dorm to prepare for class. I met with new people form the gig, a girl from Japan and a man from Chicago. Thank you for helping me taking pictures with TP. 

Experience is expensive, this might be one of the most exciting one. Moral of the story, planned your travel gig properly.. because everything might be happened and try to dance through it. God will helped, inshaallah.

Far Adore : Chapter 2 - Mere Talk

Hello, back with another chapter of "Far Adore." Just like what I wrote before, it is coming in 2024. Sketched on 14 Jan 2024 and colored/finishing on 25 Jan 2024. My hand is having issues recently, haven't been able to use my hand properly (it's very dry and itchy at night). 

The chapter emphasize the moments of talk. I continued the story when I met with Kukuh last November. In here, I felt that I was not more than an adorer. Since my childhood I kept finding someone as an object that I could adore. I don't know whether it is right or wrong, yet until this year I still look forward to adore someone. As right know, maybe this person. I might quit, and I might realizes that it is all wrong. But let me enjoy the moment by drawing this short comic strip. Remember Kak Riri's quote, "let you love someone until you are tired of it." Enjoy the comic strip, will be back 2-3 weeks from now. 

P.S. Honestly, I put many conversation balloons on the comic strip, I guess that's why I was a lil tired when coloring it. But my tiredness not influence me to not uploading it on here. I will put my draw utensils as notes.

Recap: Concerts/Gig in 2023

Here is my small recap of concerts/gigs I attended last year! Super excited since I really likes to go to a concert (beside the money I spent which was a bit extra, that's real deal though). I was successfully attend two concerts and one gig in 2023. 

Firstly, I went to Kings of Convenience concert at the Ballroom of Pacific Place Hotel in Jakarta. Yes, one of the finest building I guess near SCBD. It was on 9th March 2023, I need be serious since my teenage year I've been listening to their songs (knew them from TV), even often asked my mom to buy their album in Aquarius (Blok M - now they are closed already, too bad). So, to be able to see them live is a real dream come true! I asked for unpaid leave from my work and went to the concert by public transportation. I was meeting with Mega (whom I met on instagram), and I also made a new friends there Mutia and Alif. 

Okay, so I went there before the gate is opened. Met with Mega, queued to the Ballroom, wished to have a good sighting to the stage. Alhamdulillah, not the very front row but I can see Erlend and Eirik very close. The concert was powered by Aksara, Kurosuke and Bilal Indrajaya performed as openers. I do like Bilal's music, and congrats to him for releasing the new album last year (Nelangsa Pasar Turi). On that day after the concert, the fans started to throw things to the stage, and asked for autograph. I wasn't throwing anything. I don't have idea, but the condition was a bit out of control, my shoes got stepped on and etc.. other fans were prepared by bringing their KOC records! I can't even think to bring one for myself. 

I am happy until now that I could at least see them live once in my life. Overall, Erlend and Eirik were very very kind and patience to autograph things that fans bring to the stage. The show... i must say they are very professional and not rarely Eirik and Erlend show off their guitar skill by doing improvisation. I can't describe with words hehe.. the jaw drop moment was I saw Eirik's stories on instagram, and there was me on his stories, I'm a bit overwhelmed and happy. 

Secondly, I went to Singapore on 17th March 2023 to see Harry Styles! Can't believe finally after a lot of stages of life, pre-covid - covid - post covid time. I could see him live, alhamdulillah. Disclaimer, I was having a ticket to see him in Poland (Krakow) for his second album tour (Fine Line) in 2020. Thanked to Covid the tour was postponed. Until 2021, the second postponed. Then he went tour for Europe in Summer 2022 (I was unable to attend). Then, on the same year, I bought the ticket to see him in Singapore, and there I was! I was in a minimum budget honestly. I guess I won't bought any ticket again in the near future, especially which will be held outside Indonesia. Need to be prepared more. 

I went to see him with new friend I met on twitter Ersia, shared a room with her too for 2 nights in a hotel. Also met with mas Aan and Syah. Travelled around the Singapore the day after the concert together. Harry's House his newest album that time, I think all the songs rated 4.8/5 for me only. I like his songs, and he has a power on stage, I bought CAT 2 if I'm not mistaken, it was a tribune ticket, so I sat on a chair. Occasionally standing... and record a video on my phone... as memories. I was dreaming to be able to see Harry live since his first album came out, in the year of 2017. I was prayed: "please, I want to buy ticket for seeing Harry on my bday" then in 2019 I finally bought ticket for my bday in Krakow (really it was my bday!). Turned out it was postponed. Sigh... so guys, please, do have details on your prayer as well... learn from my mistakes. But! I am still happy though, and that's the important thing. 

Thirdly... back in September 2023, after lurking in a deep world of youtube. I watched too many shorts and videos on youtube. Once upon a time, I saw this video of Minta Digampar by Komtung. The host named Kukuh Adi (stand-up comedian). I started to like their videos, and watched many of them. Then on that night at 1 am, I bought his special video shows in 2017 on comika website. Watched the whole video, 1 hour and 30 minutes I believe. Follows his social media, then on 7th October went to his gig, tribute to The Beatles under the name of Hey Lads! The event named Heaven Sounds (it's free). I went to the venue in a cafe at the lobby of a hotel near Mangga Besar. The gate was opened on 7 pm, I was right in the venue at 07.30 pm then I saw Kukuh and his friend Aldo. I gasped. But he went outside already, not coming to the cafe. After sometime, I went to the hotel's terrace to look for him, I didn't see any of his sights. Then went back to my table, finished my cola. Not a bit later, he went to the cafe with his friend. I started calling his name, and gave him a prepared gift (hehe), asked for a picture together. Talked a bit then I thanked him with a bit of shivering/shaking hands. He and Aldo were performed at 10 pm, after their performance I went home. Just before he jumped to the stage, I was asking him for an autograph. Well, I guess that's my best day in 2023. I just regret not very good in knowing The Beatles songs. I will improve more to know!

Mini Review: Jatuh Cinta Seperti di Film-Film

At the end of 2023, I went to watch a movie (solo), and I want to write some of my thoughts about it here. 

First, the rating for this movie is very high on imDb now (01 Jan 2024) reach 8.7/10 (417 accounts). Basic information,  this movie directed and scripted by Yandy Laurens, Ringgo A. Rahman as Bagus Rahmat (male main character), Nirina Zubir as Hana (woman main character), also Alex Abbad as Yoram the Producer, Dion Wiyoko as himself, and Sheila Dara as Dion's wife named Celine. This movie was released on 30 November 2023. The movie is very very related to a person's live. Interestingly, the movie has a plot-twist on it, which I didn't expected. 

 As Bagus is a movie writer, who got a challenge from his producer (Yoram) to make a movie. Bagus decided to make a personnal movie because it will be his very first original movie. A romantic movie, indeed a romantic in a special way. Making movie as a surprise gift to express love, it is a unique idea, but what if the person who you like having a bad time because he/she just lost her love. On the story Hana is having a hard time because her husband passed away. Bagus loves Hana, who has occupation as florist. 

The movie tells on how Bagus making the movie secretly without being recognize by Hana. Bagus got helps from his friend Dion and Celine (movie editor), and full pressure from Yoram. The message from this movie was being honest is the key. Life will always keep going, and you need to outcoming your self to not standing still. As Bagus said "Life is not gonna be repeated, but it can be sequeled." 

If you like to watch romance movie, plus comedy please try to watch this movie. I was laughing so hard in the cinema. Lot of slice of life on it, humorious. Character, for Bagus, I must say he is very judgie, self-centered, and ambitious person. Hana seems very gentle, tough girl inside, and emotional. 

Overall, I do like this movie, I love the method on how to show the romantic way of expressing love. Also this movie inspired me to write more (since the movie elaborate on how the movie being produce). Secure your ticket before the movie gone from theater. I'm sure later it can be watch online, but why should we wait, just go to the nearest cinema, then enjoy the art!

Far Adore : Chapter 1 - Sushi for Dinner

Hi guys, let me tell you a bit of story.. I guess, it's been almost 4 months I've been following/adoring stand-up comedian called Kukuh Adi. A part from being comedian, he also an actor (NFAB Series), host (Night Live! and Balada +62), and musician (bass player in Hey Lads!). 

Then a couple days ago, I drew this kind of comic panel (like you can see below). It was inspired of what I've experienced when meeting Kukuh. I might update you with another chapter of Far Adore soon (next year)... 

P.S. on this chapter, it tells about my point of view on choosing meals for Kukuh in Japanese Department Store, and also on how Kukuh's reaction when I tried to gave him the meals.
